Utility

The first think you will want to think about is what you are using the lanyards for. Are you using them to clearly display employee ID cards? Are they going in a welcome package for new hires? Or will they be used for added convenience to storing and placing keys? Whatever you plan on using the lanyards for, this is a crucial first step as every decision on material, artwork, and attachments will be based off the utility.

Once you know how you will be using the lanyard, it’s time to figure out what style of lanyard will best fit your needs.

Style

There are many different styles of lanyards out there. Some have quick release clips, while others do not. You can also get break away lanyards with a safety release clasp in the back. When deciding what style is best for you, you will want to think about two things: 1) how will your employees use the lanyard on a daily basis and 2) what environment are they working in?

If your employees will have keys or other items connected to their lanyard that they will need to use outside of the range 1 foot in front of their chest, having a quick release clip could be really helpful. However, if you are attaching items to the lanyard that will not be used often but need to have the added security, a quick release clip may not be the way to go.

You also want to think about the environment and your employees safety. Do your employees work near or close to machines that could trap and eat a lanyard? If so, having a safety release on the back of the lanyard is essential. This will ensure your employee’s safety and prevent unwanted injuries.

Material

Now you’ll want to think about material. There are different materials you can choose from, each with its own look and feel. While polyester and nylon are the most purchased materials, we also offer tube (silk and cotton), woven, dye sublimation, and satin lanyards. Regardless of which material you choose, all of our materials are extremely resilient and can be machine washed/dried.

Printed Artwork or Logo

Depending on what artwork or text you would like on the lanyard, different materials offer different aesthetic options.

Woven lanyards allow customers to “stitch” text or logos on the lanyard. Giving the piece an embroidered look.

Dye sublimation is a full color dye that allows us to match any color you can imagine. This gives a lot of freedom in adding photos, logos, or text because you have unlimited color options.

Tube lanyards are the skinniest of all our lanyards and can have text and logos printed directly on.

Polyester also uses a state of the artwork printing press to customize the text and logo, but we recommend using this if you have multiple colors you would like printed. They are also a bit wider than the tube lanyards, giving you more space for text and artwork.

Our team of specialist can help you customize the artwork on your lanyard so that it fits your desired look and feel.

Attachments

The final step in choosing the right lanyard for you is selecting your attachment. Depending on the intended use, there are many different attachments that can be placed on the lanyard: key ring, j-hook, lobster claw, bulldog (ID) clip, and more. The great thing is you can mix and match attachments so if you need both a key ring and an ID clip, you can get both.

The most important thing to think about when selecting your attachment is what you intend to attach to it. If you will be attaching IDs or anything specific, it’s best to let us know the exact measurements of your item so we can ensure you get the proper attachment.

Following these steps makes finding the right lanyard for your employees simple and easy. Use this inexpensive opportunity to add value, convenience, and satisfaction to your employees. If you need help or would like to get started with your order, contact us today.
